Both films have the same DOP, Milind Jog. In some ways, This film reminds me of Sachin Kundalkar’s debut film, Restaurant, which also starred Sonali Kulkarni, and to an extent, was also about food. However, it does give us characters who change profoundly during the course of the film. The film has no conventional dramatic conflict and it doesn’t need one. The transformation that this sweet undergoes while cooking represents the change we undergo if we come in contact with someone who compliments us and who makes us complete. But these occasions are few and far between.‘This film’ in the title does have a noticeable presence in the film, but is also a metaphor. There are places where the film talks too much and says little. But as Aditya gets a foothold in Radha’s home and her life, things fall in place, and it’s smooth sailing from there. The early voice overs, and Aditya’s mannerism of talking to the food feels artificial, almost like a device to introduce the backstory. ![]() But he is persistent and things change gradually.Admittedly, the film takes its time to get the right flow. ![]() Radha is extremely eccentric and unresponsive to Aditya’s repeated requests.
